Grenland

Grenland is the traditional district comprising the six municipalities in the southern part of Telemark and covers an area of approx. 2,300 km2. It has good road links to Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen/Haugesund. The Vestfold and Sørlandet Lines already provide a good rail service, which will be further improved when Grenland’s railways are linked up in the future. Sandefjord Airport, Torp, and ferry routes offer good international connections. The Port of Grenland has one of Norway’s largest cargo ports and, combined with the Port of Kragerø, provides a good international logistics offer.

Grenland is one of Norway’s largest metropolitan regions, numbering 122,000 inhabitants. It is an important industrial centre but comprises varied industry and commerce as well as public administration and services. Telemark is one of Norway’s largest producers of renewable hydropower, and its long history of power-consuming industry has led to a solid industrial infrastructure in the region.

The region’s excellent opportunities for leisure and recreation are well known. Grenland has a vibrant cultural and sporting life, and a varied housing offer to suit all needs.
